Россия, Москва

Язык информации: Русский

RFBR – DFG – CNRS Trilateral Scientific Seminar

The aims of the seminar

- to give an overview of current trends in mechanics of materials based mainly on the results obtained in the partner countries;
- to focus and coordinate their activities on solving key problems related to prediction the mechanical behavior of materials being in service and to design new materials characterized by high deformability, strength and fracture resistance under the action of mechanical loads, physical fields and active media.

Attention will be emphasized on the questions on mechanical and computer modeling, testing and evaluation of the role of hierarchical structure and texture of materials on the basis of deep understanding the influence of scale interaction in deformation and fracture processes being non-linear as a rule.

A specific role of free surfaces and interfaces and related effects of surface stresses and energy transfer in subsurface and boundary layers in scale interaction will be analyzed. Importance of these effects for materials with characteristic sizes of structures varying from nano- to macroscales will be discussed.

Different approaches and methods of computational mechanics of materials will be demonstrated including atomistic modeling (Monte Carlo simulations and molecular dynamics methods), finite and discrete elements methods, boundary elements methods and their combinations.

New classes of problems in mechanics of materials such as the problems of kinetics of deformation and phase transition adjusted by the action of both physical fields and mechanical loading will be considered accounting for their relations with design and fabrication of smart materials, in particular shape memory allows.
Objectives of the seminar

- To present the latest developments and results in mechanics of materials obtained in the participating three countries.
- To discuss the current state of mechanics of materials in the world.
- To formulate the actual problems and perspective directions of activity in mechanics of materials.
- To promote to participants to focus their efforts on most exiting, original and fast-moving areas of mechanics of materials.
- To suggest the ways and forms of possible cooperation of the participating countries for solving the formulated problems (including the possibilities for performing joint research Projects, round robins for testing deformation and fracture characteristics of new structural and biomedical materials, round robin for comparing the methods and Codes for multiscale computer modeling of materials behavior, organization of Workshops and Schools for young researches, PhD students and students on specific topics of mutual interest in mechanics of materials).
