A Personality-Centred Approach to Foreign Language Teaching

We are glad to announce II International Conference on Foreign Language Teaching “A Personality-Centred Approach to Foreign Language Teaching”, which will take place on November 17-18, 2011 at the Faculty of Linguistics of Vyatka State University of Humanities in the city of Kirov, Russian Federation.

This conference is devoted to the 70th anniversary of the Faculty of Linguistics, traditions and innovations in the sphere of humanities. It is designed to give specialists from different research areas an opportunity to present and discuss results of their research on the problems of foreign language teaching. The event will bring together researchers applying a personality-centred approach to language teaching in EFL and ESL classrooms.

The key research areas of the conference:
- approaches to foreign language teaching; methods and techniques of their realisation in different educational establishments;
- psychological and educational aspects of developing the subject of interpersonal and intercultural foreign communication;
- emotional and value aspects of foreign language teaching;
- innovative and information technologies in foreign language teaching;
- innovative tendencies in developing the foreign language communicative competence and assessing its results in Russia and abroad;
- issues of foreign language teachers’ professional development in the two-tier system of higher education (BA and MA);
- modern linguistic studies and their influence on enhancing the foreign language communicative competence.

The languages of the conference: Russian, English, German.

We invite specialists from different research areas to submit papers for publication in an edited volume.
Participation through papers submission is welcome and supposes publication of papers if they meet all the listed requirements (see below). Please email your papers to: kaf_angl@vshu.kirov.ru.

Submission deadline is 15.09.2011.

Submission Guidelines for Papers:
- The registration information (as an attachment: Author’s Name_Registration_IntConf.doc or Author’s Name_Registration_IntConf.rtf), the text, the abstract and the key words (as an attachment: Author’s Name_Text_IntConf.doc or Author’s Name_Text_IntConf.rtf), check payment or postal money order or scanned image of the deposit slip should be submitted via эл. почта as attachments (Microsoft Word / Rich Text Format files) to kaf_angl@vshu.kirov.ru.
- The registration fee is € 30 or $35. The registration fee covers paper publication and conference fee. The information for euro and dollar payments is placed at the end of the call for papers.
- Accommodation and meals are not included. Please report, if you need a hotel and in what kind of room (single, double, triple) you would like to live.

The registration information:
Registration is via эл. почта to kaf_angl@vshu.kirov.ru. The body of the эл. почта message as an attachment (Author’s Name_Registration_IntConf.doc or Author’s Name_Registration_IntConf.rtf) should contain:
- The name of the author
- Place of employment
- Position
- Degree
- The author’s affiliation (names of the organisation, city, country)
- The author’s contact details: postal address, telephone number
- The author’s эл. почта address
- The research area (chosen from the key research areas of the conference above)
- The title of your presentation / papers
- Form of participation (participation through paper submission / paper presentation)
- Equipment required (if any)
- Accommodation required (if any). Please report, if you need a hotel and in what kind of room (single, double, triple) you would like to live.
- Check payment or postal money order or scanned image of the deposit slip.

The text and the abstract:
The text and the abstract (as an attachment: Author’s Name_Text_IntConf.doc or Author’s Name_Text_IntConf.rtf) should be submitted via эл. почта as attachments (Microsoft Word / Rich Text Format files) to kaf_angl@vshu.kirov.ru.
1. The text. Papers may not exceed 5 pages, including data, references.
2. The abstract in the language of presentation and English (3-5 lines).
3. The text format: MS Word 2003, 14-point font, with 0,8 inch margins, Times New Roman setting, 1.5 line spacing, end-capping notes (at the end of the article, but not paginal, in the form of NOTES); without division of words.
- Sample reference: Karl A. Smith asserts that … [Smith, 1996 : 79].
- Sample reference in the NOTES: 3. Smith, Karl A. Cooperative Learning: Making Groupwork. Using Active Learning in College Classes [Text] / Karl A. Smith // New Directions for Teaching and Learning, No. 67. – San Francisco : Jossey-Bass, 1996. – P. 71-82.

Your papers should include:
1. In the upper right corner: the name of the author and his affiliation (the names of the organization, city, country) given both in the language of presentation and English (or just in English if the papers are in English) – typed in lower case type.
2. Below: the title of the paper given both in the language of presentation and English (or just in English if the papers are in English) – typed in bold capital type.
3. Below in a line space: the abstract both in the language of presentation and English (or just in English if the papers are in English) (3-5 lines).
4. Below in a line space: the text in the language of presentation.
5. Below the text: references numbered and listed in the alphabetical order.
